Disaster at Bernat Mills - Free Assessment Update - Disaster Testing
Free SSL - Puny Humor - Community Events

We hope you are enjoying your summer. It is hard to believe how fast time passes. It seems though it was just spring yesterday, and today it is summer - wait a minute - we are in New England and that is "normal" weather for us. Just think how boring it would be living in any other part of the world. Someplace where you could accurately predict the weather. Someplace where it is 80 degrees and sunny everyday. A place with clear blue waters, palm trees and is pure relaxation. Oops, I just described the wallpaper on my computer (really).

Anyway - to our friends and clients who are traveling to places like: Bermuda, Florida, New Mexico, and Israel - enjoy your trips!

Uxbridge Mill Fire - July 21, 2007

On July 21st a massive fire destroyed the Bernat Mill in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. The converted mill was home to more that 55 businesses and had more than 350,000 sf of space. Members of Swiftec have been to the Blackstone Area Chamber of Commerce numerous times trying to help with data recovery and setting up temporary offices for affected business.

The good news is that not a single person was harmed in the fire. The bad news is 500 people are now out of work. In addition, most of the financial data stored by those businesses went up in smoke. Needless to say we have several new clients who are taking advantage of our Swiftec Automated Remote Backup Service (SARBS).

For $1.32 a day, less than a cup a coffee, you can have your critical data backed up automatically, without any interaction on your part. If you have not done so already, ask us how we can help you save your data.

Free Assessments - please be patient

To all of you who have requested a Free Assessment of your computers, servers, network, and backup solutions - thank you. We ask that you have a little patience so we may provide each customer with the same quality report that we are accustomed to delivering.

New requests for Free Assessments will be scheduled for after September 4th.

Disaster testing beginning in September

We are scheduling now for disaster drills being held in September. The purpose of the drill is simple - to verify that your backup solution is workable, and that you can resume business operations if you cannot access your office.

The drill will work as follows:

  1. We will agree on a date for the "disaster"
  2. We will make sure that we have copies of your critical software
  3. You will call us on that day, and declare the "disaster"
  4. We will begin recreating your environment in our office
  5. Within two hours we expect to have a system functional for you to test that you are once again functional.

Due to the setup time associated with the test, we will only accommodate one drill per day. Please call us to schedule your test.

Shared SSL Certificate now being offered!

As part of commitment to continuous improvement, we now offer as part of our hosting services, a shared SSL Certificate.

Why do you need a SSL Certificate? SSL Certificates give a web site the ability to communicate securely with its web customers. Without a certificate, any information sent to a web site can be intercepted and viewed by anyone.

If you collect customer data or credit cards on your web site, then you need a SSL Certificate. Our shared certificate saves you the cost of purchasing your own certificate.

Puny Humor #2

6 Marriage is the mourning after the knot before.
7 A hangover is the wrath of grapes.
8 Corduroy pillows are making headlines.
9 Is a book on voyeurism a peeping tome?
10 Does the name Pavlov ring a bell?

Enjoy your summer!
